Directions
Castello del Trebbio is about a 30 minute drive outside of Florence. We have outlined below different ways to reach Florence and our recommended accommodations for those not staying on site. Shuttle services will be provided for the accommodations listed below.
*Since most guests are coming in from the Chicago area, the flight information below is in regards to leaving from Chicago. Guests from other areas may experience longer or shorter flights depending on location.
Arrive in Florence
If you are leaving from Chicago, flights to the Florence airport will have a minimum of one layover, and total fight time with one layover ranges from 11-18 hours. The airport is about a 20 minute drive from Florence, and a 35 minute drive from the venue. Services will be provided for pickup for guests not renting a car.
Arrive in Rome
If you are leaving from Chicago, you can expect a direct flight to be around 9 hours.
From the airport take the Leonardo Express to the Roma Termini stop (30 minutes). From there you will take Le Frecce high-speed train (Frecciabianca) from Rome (stop name: Roma Termini) to Florence (stop name: Santa Maria Novella). This ride should be around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Italian high speed trains need to be booked ahead of time and are assigned seating. You can purchase seats here. The earlier you book, the cheaper the tickets are.
Because tickets are purchased for specific train times and seats, we highly suggest you give yourself ample time to get to the train station from the airport, taking into account baggage claim and wait time for the Leonardo Express. Roma Termini has places to purchase food and goods, and the high-speed trains offer snacks and drinks during your ride.
From the venue, the Florence train station (stop name: Santa Maria Novella) is about a 25 minutes drive away by car. Services will be provided for pickup for guests not renting a car.
Car Rental and Uber
Only Uber black is available in Italy so be aware Uber prices may be higher. If you plan on using Uber at all during your time in Italy, be sure to confirm you have a data plan or SIM card that will allow you to have service when abroad.
If you are thinking about renting a car and coming in from Rome, the average drive time is around 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
Florence is a very pedestrian friendly city. If you plan on staying in the city at all, please research if renting a car would be a viable option for your location as a large part of the city is a car-free zone. All activities and tours we recommend below meet near the Florence train station and include transportation to the destination.
Parking is available at the recommended accommodations and venue if you decide to get a car rental, however shuttle services will also be provided for day of the wedding and for pickup and drop off as needed.
